Nissan Launches Fully Electric Car for the 'New Era'

Nissan on Wednesday unveiled the Ariya, a new all-electric crossover model that the Japanese automaker said would herald a "new era" in the company's fortunes. Introducing the new car at the company's headquarters in Yokohama, Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said he will play a key role as the driving force behind Nissan's brand and face for the new era. The Ariya has a range of 610 kilometers (380 miles) and is expected to hit dealerships in Japan from the middle of next year with a price tag of around 5 million yen ($ 47,000). Nissan aims to launch the new model in Europe, the United States and China by the end of 2021, the company said in a statement.
