Panasonic Unveils Large Battery Prototype to Help Tesla Reduce EV Costs

Panasonic says the new 4860 Nickel Cobalt Aluminum (NCA) cell format, which features a 46mm wide x 80mm high battery, will store more power, reduce battery costs by up to 50% and deliver 100x the capacity of the batteries and also increase in battery production in 2030. The announcement of new Panasonic batteries comes in conjunction with the expansion of Tesla vehicle production in China and Europe. Panasonic's new, cheaper battery format could also be a key component in helping Tesla launch its $ 25,000 electric vehicle.
