CATL Launches New EV Battery Replacement Service

Battery manufacturer China Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL) has launched a battery replacement service for electric vehicles. CATL will start by setting up electric vehicle battery replacement stations in ten cities in China. This service allows drivers to replace up to three depleted battery modules with fully charged ones. Supporting the latest CATL CTP (cell-to-pack) battery technology, each battery pack provides a range of 200 km (124 miles). CATL is one of the world's largest battery suppliers to the automotive industry and supplies batteries to Tesla, Volkswagen, and many other automakers. The first phase of operations will have an annual capacity of 60 GWh and an additional 60 GWh for phase 2. The annual capacity of 120 GWh is sufficient to power approximately 1.2 million electric vehicles.
