Mazda Motor Corp. confirmed expanded cooperation with Toyota on a shared EV architecture designed to underpin multiple compact and mid-size electric models. The partnership aims to reduce R&D expenditure while accelerating time-to-market amid intensifying global EV competition.

Executives stated that shared procurement of battery components and software systems will enhance cost efficiency. Mazda continues to pursue a balanced electrification plan that includes hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and pure EVs.
