Toyota under Fire over Support for Diesel Bans in Europe

Japanese automaker Toyota has come under fire for its decades' long support for an environmental action group, which German politicians think is damaging the German car industry.

Toyota has supported Environmental Action Germany for some 20 years. The group has also won a number of legal cases in German cities to ban diesel vehicles from central districts to enforce pollution limits.

How the bans are giving stimulating fears over the implications for the jobs, as Japanese automaker outran average industry growth in the country. The German politicians are now accusing Toyota of using the NGO to create a competitive advantage for its portfolio of hybrid electric vehicles, over German counterparts who are far more dependent on disesel cars.
