Toyota Launches New Acceleration Suppression System

Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) announced today that it has developed a new acceleration suppression system, in addition to its existing system, to help prevent serious accidents and reduce damage caused by improper application of the foot pedal accelerator. On July 1, Toyota released this system as "Support Plus" for new cars and added functionality in the "Pedal II Misapplication Acceleration Control System" update for use with existing cars. In 2012, Toyota introduced the Intelligent Separation Sensor (ICS) for new vehicles and, since 2018, launched a "pedal misapplication acceleration control system" for existing vehicles.
